East Lane Wharf was used to ship out refuse collected in the area. The dock there was previously a dry dock.

The building in the centre was The Bunch of Grapes pub and later became Chambers Wharf's canteen.
Bermondsey Wall West runs to the left through the gap beyond the pub, and to the right.
The gates provide - or prevent - access to East Lane Stairs.
East Lane Wharf, formerly Vestry Wharf, was to the right of the stairs, and have become part of Chambers Wharf.
