Re: Jamaica Road/Union Road-- Old Jamaica Road.
Old Jamaica Road, 2019, ran from Abbey Street to Thurland Road.
The rear entrance to Enid Garage (and Gibbs Transport) at no. 24 in 1988 shortly after it closed and was demolished. The garage had been there since the 1940s and I assume had a 'frontage' through the railway arch in Enid Street.
Top picture right.
The Toc H building on the end was an old pawn shop right on the junction with Abbey Street, it wasn’t in remarkable condition so in 1927 Toc H were forced to abandon it before it fell down. There was much discussion in the ensuing months about allowing this tatty, decrepit, building to become an eyesore with Toc H signs still attached. Ironically it would remain standing for decades before finally being pulled down.

Re: Jamaica Road/Union Road
Pub closed in 2016, formerly Royal George, corner of Prospect Street.
Word of thanks to Fogbrain for the information regarding the picture below.
The southern half of Prospect Row, looking north towards Jamaica Road. The houses have taller building beyond is the rear of the Royal George (aka Boatman's, later renamed The Boatman, recently demolished) in Jamaica Road.
On Sunday afternoons, pub landlord Bill Barritt opened his saloon bar for a children's Club Party.
