Lucey Road
Lucey Road
When I worked at Beaches Rouel Road, me and my mate Micky Davies use to drink in the Lord Palmerston, Lucey Road at that time 1960/63. When we finished work on a Friday night we would go straight round to the pub till it closed, really had some good drinking sessions in there, great memories. I have since learnt that Eileen & George Purser, the publicans where Carole’s parents, (Caroleannefortroad member from old site) so to some extent the good times would have been down to them, if not we would have gone somewhere else to drink.

Re: Lucey Road
In 1965/6 I was taking an A-level at Bacon's, the first time this had been done, apparently. I was the only student doing this so I had a lot of time learning on my own. After school I worked on paper rounds and in My Mum & Dad's shop in Linsey Street until it closed at 7:30. After something to eat I could start my homework and so I took my schoolbooks down to the Lord Palmerston, spread them out on the bar and wrote some essays over a pint or two of light and bitter. This wasn't too long before the whole area was cleared and the pub was quiet and George & Eileen didn't mind. Mind you, their grasp of geomorphology was a bit thin so they weren't much help beyond serving beer and providing encouragement.

This could be my mum, Maureen Gorin. Does anyone know where this photo came from? She lived at 90 Lucey Rd in 1952 and had a babe in arms at that time.
Re: Lucey Road
Hi Kiwi,
I lived in 90 Lucey Road from 1958 to 1967, then in Rouel Rd until 1973. I’d be interested to hear where you got the Coronation pics from.
What did Beaches make??
