Arthur Soper lived in Cornbury Road, Rotherhithe, he was a timber stevedore at Surrey Docks. He was on his way home when the Germans made another run up the river that day, he led a number of people to safety instead of just saving himself, then continued to save other civilians during that London Blitz raid in April 1941.
