I think the ice cream stall went to a museum in the Old Kent Road c1970.

The 1939 photograph shows Frank's 'The Little Wonder' Pet Store and Toomey's Toilet and Domestic Stores as well as the market stalls.

East Street Market legend, John Wallington MBE, JP. 1938-2021.
Johnny was a well-known figure across the borough. Popularly known as ‘Johnny the Toy Man’, the trader had worked at the Lane for over sixty years. There were three generations of Wallington’s in their East Street shop.
After the Second World War Johns father, ran a merry-go-round in the market, giving turns for a penny, or a jam jar, a go. I think the toy shop was on the right next to Broomfields.?
Not sure if this is the merry-go-round, but it is in East Lane, so it is a good chance it is.
I do remember Johnny from the market, I also remember a merry-go-round going around the streets in the 1940s, and the jam jar for a ride.
