Hello,

Just found this forum and thought I would add something of interest to you maybe?

My grandfather Mr William James Taylor and his son George (my uncle) owned the Bermondsey Cinema 120 Jamaica Road before it became the Stork Cinema. I have a copy of a advert placed in the Southwark recorder 8th March 1918 when the Films "Smith" a powerful Drama plus "His precious Life" Keystone Comedy and "The Secret Kingdom" (part 2) was to be shown on the Monday 11th March to Wednesday 13th
Also on Thursday March 14th 1918 to Saturday 16th "The Happy Warrior" and "The Grey Ghost" part2.

Children's Matinee Sat admission 1d Prices 4d 5d & 7d inc tax Children with parents 2 1/2p to all parts. Sunday performance in aid of charity.

William (Bill) also had the Marina Boxing Club on Trinity Street. I had loads of details if anyone is interested,

Hello Marie

I would be interested to know more about Wiliam James Taylor and George Taylor
I may be related

Many thanks
Martin Taylor

I wonder when this photo was taken? My cousin four-times-removed Albert Dean was the licensee from at least 1910 until his death in 1917, after which his widow Alice continued until at least 1923.
