Isn't that Spenlow House on the left of picture, and the pic is looking towards the Tunnel? In which case, St James's Road will be to the right and Bevington Street to the left. I stand to be corrected...

Location is spot on. The building on the corner had previously been a pub - the clue is the blank curved corner at first and second floor level that had carried the pub name and other signage. It was a beer house called The Railway Tavern.

The Hospital closed in 1919.The site of the Hospital is now occupied by Bromfield Court, an apartment block. The white building is where the Midland Bank was.

To the left of Tower Bridge and by the Railway Line, dark colour is Tooley Street. Following the rail line left to the larger road going under bridge, that is Abbey Street. The larger road bearing left is Jamaica Road, with St James Church on the left, to the right U shaped is Martin Crescent.

I just sent my dad a screen shot off the CUM photo, he was born and lived above the shop in the 1940’s.
