GURNEY STREET/WANSEY STREET.

Gurney Street was opposite Falmouth Road, in the New Kent Road.Both Gurney St & Deacon St are no longer there.
Wansey Street use to run between Gurney Street & Walworth Road c1930.Now runs between Walworth Road & Brandon Street 2020.

Gurney Street, VE Day street party. Mrs. Baker is at the end of the table in the foreground, Mrs. Willis is in the background at right. Gurney Street was later demolished as part of the development of the Heygate Estate.

I may be wrong on this but the ladies in the picture above are possibly standing outside number 55 next to the then gap, as I can’t see any gap behind them.
