Balaclava Road

Balaclava Road looking towards Southwark Park Road. In the old picture the shop in the distance is Wilds Porn Shop.
The houses on the right in the today picture seem too be the original houses that were in Balaclava Road.

Hi Joe

I would have loved to see inside that shop in the distance? ;)
There should be one on every corner, that would make bermondsey the new soho :?:

Another Picture of Balaclava Road again looking towards Southwark Park Road, looks like early morning with the milk cart in the street. The picture was taken from the with the junction of Fort Road.
We can date the construction of these houses by the names of the roads Balaclava Road and Alma Grove battles in the Crimea War round about 1856 which would give the date of construction around that period
The picture looks as it was taken prewar as I remember the houses on the left had war damage and were unuseable, opposite the milk cart on the right was a house where the front room was used as a cobblers shop the name "Green" rings a bell to me as the name off the cobbler
