Cherry Garden Place

This picture from 1934 shows Cherry Garden Place as it was then, it ran between Cherry Garden Street and West Lane.

It was formerly known as Brewers Court or Brewers Yard before the London County Council name changes in 1912.

Does Brewers Court or Brewers Yard have some meaning, was it an area used for brewing in the past?
The Cherry Tree public house stood at 14 Cherry Garden Street, while at number 10 was a beer house as well as the Two Brewers in West Lane - perhaps these names hold some secrets.

Cherry Garden Street has changed over the years with a selection of 1930 Bermondsey Borough Council flats still remaing and the newer property towards the riverside where I believe Cherry Garden Place was situated.
