Another picture in the 'Blue' Southwark Park Road at the point where Camilla Road crossed Southwark Park Road - to the left was Blue Anchor Lane and to the right Fort Road and Lynton Road.
This was at the time when the Horse Trams still operated in the area. The Blue Anchor pub can be seen on the corner of Blue Anchor Lane and the sign for George Carters Mens Outfitters can be seen over the canopies of the shops. The shop on the corner number 229 stood on the corner where the bank is which now looks as though it has closed

The shop number is 239, and it is where the bank was. Originally the London Joint City & Midland Bank Ltd, before changing to the Midland Bank.

I think this is looking towards Beatrice Road down on the left. The letters on the wall look like YAN, so this could be Banks & Bryan Ltd, Mantle Maker on the corner. If right the road on the right would be Camilla Road.

I think you're right - the taller building in the distance would be the Colleen Bawn.

Do you remember Southwark Park Road Market? It was one of South London's biggest. By the 1950s it had to compete for space with increasing road traffic and despite petitions it had to go. In 1976 the remaining stalls were given a new site - today's Blue Market.
- In this photo from 1950, we can see a stallholder gathering signatures for a petition to Bermondsey Borough Council.

Hi Kiwi, thanks for all the work you do in adding new pics - great stuff.
Re R&G Holden, it was further towards St James’ Road, in between Iceland and the old Abbey National/Santander. It still sells similar stuff today.
