You're right - that is the same building. It is now offices. I'll get the description corrected.

Back in 1950 B.B.Voss Car park / yard, which was 100 yds from my house in Weston Street, was our Sunday morning football pitch plus access to a rooftop view of the girls on the big swings in Kipling Park for us climbers.
Obviously our football was a mix of newspaper and old socks wrapped with rubber bands "borrowed" from school.

Attached is a view of Weston St school in the 1930s. Unfortunately the spire is just out of the photo.

Hi, I was here in the 60s when it was the Chaucer evening institute. At first, I joined to learn motorcycle mechanics and later to learn boat building. I built a double chine Venturer motorboat. I think we kept Bromley boat supplies in business in them days.

The Institute still stands to this day, RXJ, but now as swanky designer apartments. Shame that the community lost a place that gave so much.

These days, the belltower has a bathroom and “hideaway” as part of one of the luxury pads. Very sad, but there was a gruesome murder there just a few years back. The victim had turned one of the rooms into a dungeon and was murdered by a casual partner, only being discovered some time afterwards.

This part of Weston Street is no longer there, now stops at St Thomas Street.
