Weston Street - late Baalzephon Street. When did it change?
This detailed 1887 plan of London is one of a series of twenty-six sheets in an atlas originally produced to aid insurance companies in assessing fire risks. The building footprints, their use (commercial, residential, educational, etc.), the number of floors and the height of the building, as well as construction materials (and thus risk of burning) and special fire hazards (chemicals, kilns, ovens) were documented in order to estimate premiums. Names of individual businesses, property lines, and addresses were also often recorded.

Hi paperboy.
Can’t give you a definite answer regarding Baalzephon Street & Weston Street name change but coming from the Borough it would have only been on the right side of Long Lane that it changed.
In the 1830s Baalzephon Street ran from Long Lane towards Tabard Street stopping near Halfway Hatch, which was about halfway, and it then became Hunter Street. (I think this later became Great Hunter Street in the 1870s)?
At this time there was no Weston Street either-side of Long Lane. In 1860s Baalzephon Street is still there and not changed. Opposite it on the other-side of Long Lane it is now called New Weston Street which ran from Tooley Street to Long Lane.
By the 1900s New Weston Street is now called Weston Street and running from Tooley Street across Long Lane all the way to the junction with Tabard Street/Great Dover Street. Baalzephon Street and Hunter Street have now disappeared and become Weston Street.
Due to the alterations going on in Tooley Street (2017) I’m not sure if Weston Street still runs under the arches to Tooley Street or stops at St Thomas St, anyway it begins this end and runs all the way back across Long Lane to end at Law Street/Wild Rents, on your map just, past Wilderness Street and opposite Rothsay Street. As I said not a definite date, but your map (1887) shows Baalzephon Street had already gone and it was there in 1878, hope this helps. Kiwi.

Picture states, the building no longer exists. I might be wrong, but I think this is the same building converted into flats. This is opposite Ship & Mermaid Row which runs through to Snowfields. :?:
