The Helen Peele Memorial Alms-houses form a terrace of 7 one-bedroom cottages set at right angles to Lower Road in Rotherhithe. They have distinctive bright red doors and face onto a well maintained landscaped garden. Managed by Hanover Housing Association, applications are accepted from the over 55s when a rare vacancy occurs. They were built in 1902 by the terms of the will of Charles John Peele, a director at the large local factory Brandram Brothers. They are Opposite Wells House, Howland Estate.

Warrior. This pub opened in 1862 as The Manor beer house, it has now been demolished. It was on the corner of Maynard Road (1930), which later became Tawny Way and the Osprey Estate, in-between Redriff Road and Plough Way, just down from where the Surrey Docks Pub is today.

I used to go to Southwark park primary school and my friend Stein Knutesons father was the caretaker at the Norwegian Church
