The Great Fire of Southwark 23rd September 1689. The Falcon and Half Moon Inns were consumed, plus part of the Kings Bench Prison". Soldiers quartered nearby helped fight the blaze, some buildings were blown up to create a fire break with several persons being burnt and destroying over 50 houses.
