CUNARD STREET.

Postby kiwi » Mon May 31, 2021 11:42 pm

Cunard Street, picture of a lost street and the only one I have ever seen. This is looking from Neate Street towards Albany Road c.1905. The large building right was an entrance to R White's mineral water factory and behind that was the Albany Arms pub. On the night of 10th May 1941 all 35 houses in this street were destroyed by a landmine dropped by the German Luftwaffe resulting in 14 deaths and many injured. After the war, 17 prefabs were erected most lasting until the mid-1970s. Now all is buried under Burgess Park.
