One of these shops is where we went to get ice cream in a pint glass with Tizer or Cream Soda. :)

Hi Dawnyjacques, welcome to the site. The tags are a great find, and where did you find them.? as you say they do look very old.
I have looked to try and find a company with initials E & H., in Great Dover Street and came up with Gregory E & H Straw Hat Manufacturers, St Thomas Place, Great Dover Street, c1842.
I haven’t found St Thomas Place but think it was roughly somewhere near Swan Street. This is just my opinion, and I may be completely wrong, regardless it is still a good find.
Cheers Kiwi.

Following a telephone call, police found two sacks containing £50,000 of stolen money in this phone box, wrong phone box. ;)

I was in that phone box opposite the Black Horse pub early that morning in question calling in sick to my my firm. Just adjacent to the box is a entrance to Lawson Estate.where I lived in Nashe house. When I got back home ( to bed ) I found I was covered in some silvery powder !!?

In the old picture from 1950 we notice the lack of traffic, the Dover Castle pub can just be seen on the left as well as the Church in the distance and old buildings.
Today all has changed. The Dover Castle remains as does the Church but nothing else. The traffic congestion is beyond belief, the dreaded red lines have appeared.d3afd3e3e7ee91baa26a6a5a4d584f017137f097(6).jpg9a2bdf3947ecf70b4dabbc3c7d45614f052ddcf8(6).jpg

I think its called St Georges church and had an air-raid shelter in the crypt and across the road the Borough Tube had one to accommodate thousands. Mid afternoon one day early 1945 during a visit to the post office the warning sirens went off and my mum and I crossed the road to the church .Halfway down the steps we were pushed headfirst down the rest by a blast which was from a V2 Rocket which demolished half of Marshalsea Rd . My Mum got cut just below her eye and me being so young didn't understand and for ages believed it was from a broken mirror until i was told the above.. Must go back someday to explore.
