The Cut was formerly in two parts, New Cut, Waterloo end and from Marlborough Street, now renamed Short Street to Blackfriars Road, Great Charlotte Street.

Appreciate this (Lambeth) is not our area but posted this to tie in with the picture above.
Short Street runs along the borough boundary at Waterloo with Lambeth on the right and the church of St Andrew & St Thomas, Waterloo on the left, c1969. Meson Don Felipe, Spanish type Tapas bar on the corner above, was formerly the Midland Bank.

The Cut, 1969. Cooke’s Pie and Mash Shop, A. Harris Tailors, and Potters Newsagent The Windmill pub is set back on the left of Cooke's Pie and Mash shop, Lower Marsh is to the left.

Can’t make out the name of the Pie and Mash shop, I do remember Cooke’s Pie and Mash shop in The Cut, but that’s it. Sadly all gone.
