The Cut was formerly in two parts, New Cut, Waterloo end and from Marlborough Street, now renamed Short Street to Blackfriars Road, Great Charlotte Street.

The Cut, no through road, Short Street right 2020. Strangely now in 2021, a no entry sign in the same spot where the road split into two in c1900.

Appreciate this (Lambeth) is not our area but posted this to tie in with the picture above.
Short Street runs along the borough boundary at Waterloo with Lambeth on the right and the church of St Andrew & St Thomas, Waterloo on the left, c1969. Meson Don Felipe, Spanish type Tapas bar on the corner above, was formerly the Midland Bank.

Can’t make out the name of the Pie and Mash shop, I do remember Cooke’s Pie and Mash shop in The Cut, but that’s it. Sadly all gone.
