Who remembers going down Shad Thames as a kid, the whole area was a hive of industry and the smell of spices that would drift from the warehouses was wonderful. Thanks for that I stand corrected having looked at a map from 1956 you are right the view is into Abion Dock glad to know people are looking and correcting when need be thanks for that

You are right about the sweet shop. He used to supply the Scouts with boxes of sweets for their events at a discount.
I've got a feeling that the other shop sold second-hand domestic appliances? I've got a vague vision, of in my youth, seeing heaters and maybe furniture in the window.
