Re: POLLOCK ROAD.

Could this be Nicholson House which I have just posted in Lion Street? And is that the white shop in Lion Street down on the left? I didn't know it was called Nicholson House; the only Nicholson House of which I was aware is one of the LCC blocks on Brandon Street. But no, the Lion Street photo was...

Re: East Lane

They certainly look like the same cart and the same location - even the same trees! I've never seen one of a horse-drawn sarsaparilla cart there before - do you think it would it have been George Barnes back then?

Re: POLLOCK ROAD.

I think this is Pollock Road?? as far as I can remember Palatinate Estate was on both sides of Pollock Road. I think the caption's wrong and right. It is Lion Street, but I don't think the Palatinate extended to Lion Street. The gap was where 55-83 Chatteris Square had stood, and the nearest block ...

This is one of the LCC photographs that has recently been given a new description by a volunteer. It appears that they haven't grasped the function of the 'shed'!

Re: PARADISE STREET

Paradise Street, Bermondsey. numbers 53-61, c1942. It is Paradise Street, but the other side - №s 96-110, right to left. London Picture Archive is currently revamping the titles and descriptions of the pictures in the LCC Photograph Library collection. Unfortunately, the volunteer to whom this box ...

Re: MYSTERY-DO YOU RECOGNISE THESE PLACES?

Anyone know where this is? I think it could be Blue Anchor Lane. The sign may read Courage, with a hand pointing right, possible towards The Blue Anchor Pub :?: It is indeed Blue Anchor Lane. The houses are №s 17 and 19. I think the sign at № 15 is that of the company trading from that yard, and un...

Re: BLUE ANCHOR LANE

Blue Anchor Lane, Southwark, wooden fences behind houses in c1926. X.png This is a view of Blue Anchor Lane, Peckham. Or is it a déjà vu? Picture from Collage states Blue Anchor Lane, Southwark 1926. Obviously, this does not make it right, so can you explain or show way you think it is in Peckham. ...

Re: Fort Buildings

Hello, Ian. So the first question is: in what bit of Alscot Road did my mum live? kiwi's right - № 78 was in the bit of Alscot Road that was south of Southwark Park Road. Including the rear garden or yard it occupied the area now occupied by the rear gardens of №s 79-91 Hazel Way; the front door was...
