Re: East Lane
I could likewise be wrong(!) — but I think you’re right about the caption being wrong, Kiwi. I am also seeing King and Queen Street on the left, with The Good Intent on the right.
PS: Many thanks, as always, for the regular fix of new pics!

Re: Rotherhithe Street
Here is a picture of the battle cruiser itself that I have stumbled across while trying - and failing - to work out where the cafe in Kiwi’s post above once stood. The Half Moon and Bulls Head is to the left of view…

Re: Bermondsey 1940
Thanks for sharing, BermondseyBoy. What a fascinating glimpse into wartime Bermondsey and those that were part of it! So descriptive I can almost visualise it in my mind’s eye. Would love for my kids’ schools to incorporate real history like this into the school curriculum. Thanks again for sharing :)

Re: VERNEY ROAD, BRAMCOTE GROVE. ROTHERHITHE
The colour pics Kiwi has posted above are very “atmospheric”. There is something very nice about seeing old pics showing folk happy and coming together. Despite the impending wrecking ball and razing to the ground of everything in sight except the Bramcote, look how many people were there and having...

Re: TRUNDLEYS ROAD.
Great pic, Kiwi. Thank you for your work in finding gems to share and keeping us all reminiscing.
That looks like a mk2 Transit parked on the right, and I am not sure if that is a mk2 Cavalier in the distance on the left, which would suggest the scene may in fact be early 1980s?

Re: Searles Road
Just before Christmas I made a delivery to one of the luxury flats in the old Paragon School. After all these years the staircases still retain the smell of school dinners, and it still smells distinctly like a school!
