My father John Sales was a 17 year old on stretcher parties at the time, he was the first one back in there after the bomb. Needless to say the scene was beyond horrible. My mother was brought up in Woolf Street, Dockhead.
She says that their house was close to the pie shop and a bell rang every now and again.
Her mother Nell Simms, born 1901, told her that it meant they'd caught another cat!
