Memories of Bermondsey

Hello Everyone

I have only just found this site, what a revalation ! I feel as though a light has switched on in my brain
and so many memories that have been buried for years have come flooding back. Wonderful !!!!

My dad grew up in Wolsely Buildings, ground floor flat on the corner of Farthing Alley and Jacobs Street .He moved to Keetons Road after marrying my mum, they met when they both worked at Spillers. His sister Rosie lived in Dockhead all her life, in Dombey House, George Row and finally in sheltered accommadation in Parkers Row. She died 5 years ago aged eighty six. My cousin, also Rosie,had the Ship Aground for many years , her daughter continued to run the pup after she retired. Rosie sadly died just before Christmas, so the last family link with Dockhead has gone.

I grew up in Drappers Road and went to Alma school and Bermondsey Central. Many of the people mentioned  by other members are familiar to me.
