Just a few memories of Neckinger estate that I have, were you there at the time, ring any bells?
If you have any memories of this estate around at the same time,it would be great to read about it!

Playing 'tin can alley' with 20 or 30 kids in the square.
Walking to Boucher school, cutting through Spa park to wind up the winos on the benches.
Playing for Neckinger football team.
Coming home covered in eggs and flower from the yearly Bacons school 'getogether' at Southwark cathederal.
Hiding down the air raid shelters under Neckinger in the rain.
Getting to know the girls from Alwyns school and St Michaels!
Fighting with the girls from Alwyns!
Playing football in 'The Maze'
Being 'forced' to dance with Susan at every country dancing lesson.
Feeding the bird of pray in the pet shop under the arches in Enid Street.
Playing Knock down ginger and getting cought!
Getting free 'crackling' from the Spa chippy.
Sneeking into the Fleece for an underage beer or two!
Getting 'sent to the wall' by Mrs Flecther and Boucher, only to be given biscuits afterwards!
Oh,dont forget the bottles of warm milk at break time!
Wearing my brand new Bacons uniform on my first day of school.
Coming home with it torn to shreds the same day!
Hearing the 7.30 bell rung,to call the road sweepers at the Neckinger rd depot
Finding the road sweepers 'hiding' under the arches of Neckinger!
Selling live eels I cought from the Thames to the fish stall outside the Fleece.
The Fort pub.
Falling into nettles in the garden of Boucher school whilst wearing shorts, ouch!
Having my first 'snog' in Spa park..happy days!
Dancing to 'Greased lighting' on the last day at Boucher!
The smell of fresh bread every morning coming from Spa bakery.
And it goes on and on,
Happy days!
