Jessie Flatman (nee Bullion)
I'm sure there'll be folk interested in the passing of Jessie Flatman, a supporter of Bermondsey all her life and, he says proudly, my aunt.
Jessie was 90 when she died in August. She was a founder member and director of the Beormund Centre on the corner of Abbey Street and Druid Street. She worked tirelessly for the centre and people of Bermondsey. In 1998 or 1999 she was acclaimed as 'Woman of the Year' by Southwark Council for her considerable efforts. A member of the Beormund Centre spoke at her funeral in suitably glowing terms
She was born in a court off Long Lane and lived variously in Vauban Estate, Abbey Buildings and Arnold Estate before moving to Arica House in Slipper's Place.
Jessie will be sadly missed.
My condolences go to her Family and Friends.
Paperboy, you must be very proud of your Aunt for all the good things she done for Bermondsey.
Steve.
What a great lady...a true Bermondsey girl!
My condolences to Jessie's family and friends.
