Bermondsey Welcomes Quadrant Crew
Thanks to Bermondseybeat for donating this information.

HMS Quadrant
Q-Class Fleet Destroyer ordered in March 1940 from Hawthorn Leslie, Newcastle with other ships of the 3rd Emergency Flotilla. The ship was laid down on 24th September that year but her construction was delayed because of higher priority repair work on ships damaged in action during the Norwegian campaign and the evacuation operations in the Channel. Launch was therefore delayed until 28th February 1942 when she became the 1st RN ship to carry this name. Build was completed on 26th November 1942 at a cost of £436,576. After a successful WARSHIP WEEK for National Savings in March 1942 she was adopted by the civil community of Bermondsey in Greater London.

My Father in Law, Jack Wescott, now 86 years old, served on the Quadrant and attended this event. He has a copy of this at home.
I will try to get him to tell his recollections and add them here.
Dave
Hi Dave,
I am actually looking for information about my father Joseph Murphy who joined the Quadrant in 1943. According to my mum, he was involved with the radar. I have a photograph of him in his Able Seaman uniform and he would have been around 19 years old at the time. Unfortunately he died in 1996 and it due to the final visit of HMS Liverpool to her home port this weekend that my sister and I have started to delve into his naval history.
I wonder if your father-in-law has recollections of his time on the ship.
Faith
