Transport in Bermondsey

I was fascinated by transport as a kid in Bermiondsey. My dad had a coal lorry which was previously an army truck in WW2 - an old Bedford! I used to sit on the window cill of Bermondsey Town Hall at the corner of Spa Road and Neckinger recording the places in my dad's old AA book where visiting lorries had come from. I remember the Scammell Scarabs used by Liptons which could move largish loads of oranges from storage in the railway arches in Dockley Road to the factory in Rouel Road. As part of my cub's 'guide badge' I had to learn the movements of several LT bus routes.

In another thread somebody mentioned trams. I have a 1946 tram map issued by London Transport, the Bermondsey area is reproduced here ...
