CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE PARFITT ROAD IS OR WAS? IT WAS NEAR THE PEEK FREEN FACTORY I BELIEVE.
MANY THANKS

Hi Phil

Found this 1940's Map showing Parfitt Road.
Not really near Peek Freens, but not to far away either.
More Rotherhithe New Road.
Hope this helps?

HELLO BERMONDSEYBOY,
THANK-YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE MAP AND INFORMATION. HAVE STARTED A FAMILY TREE AND REALLY ENJOYING FINDING OUT ABOUT MY "ROOTS". PARFITT ROAD IS WHERE MY GRAND FATHER WAS BORN ALONG WITH HIS 4 SISTERS AND BROTHER. MY GREAT GRANDFATHER WORKED AT PEEK FREENS FOR 40 YEARS+.AFTER THE FIRST WORLD WAR IN WHICH MY GRANDFATHER ALFRED FREDRICK MARKHAM SERVED,HE MOVED TO HACKNEY.HE WAS KILLED WORKING IN THE DOCKS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR AGED 46, MY DAD WAS ONLY 5 AND BECAUSE HE WAS SO YOUNG MISSED OUT ON ALOT OF THE FAMILIES PAST.
NICE TO KNOW WE HAVE SOUTH LONDON BLOOD IN THE VEINS AND MIGHT EVEN START UP A INDEPENDENT TRADING COMPANY!
THANK-YOU VERY MUCH AGAIN AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

A photo of this area in the 30s. Notice south Bermondsey station before it moved to it's new location. There are post war blocks of flats there now.
