In 1960 Bermondsey Borough Council published a guide to Bermondsey with many pictures and advertisements.

Here are two of the more interesting advertisements from the guide.

My dad Brian Austin worked in Chambers wharf in the 70's - 80's i think. One year they filmed and episode of "the professionals". I remember all the screaming girls outside while i was inside with Bodie and Doyle.

Probably got this wrong , but i'm sure years ago they did a TV variety programme on top of the roof on Chambers wharf , i think Matt Monroe was singing, but it's all a bit vague , i only remember it because i lived around the corner in Wolseley Street.
Someone might know a bit more info on it.

Another thing i remember about Chambers Wharf was when we were kids we used to nick the ice from there (although you couldn't touch it , as it was so cold it stuck to your hands) and then throw it down the drains , as it used to froth up and make a loud noise with plenty of smoke (quite spectacular).
Oh the silly things we remember HaHa!!

I've never heard of him HaHa!!   But my one was probably later than that.

? Was St Michaels there in 1959 , i'm probably totally wrong with this , but i'm sure i can remember the school being built , and i never moved to Dockhead until then.
But i might be thinking of renovations , or something like that.
My minds going you know - getting old HaHa!!

Blimey , i remember the camper van (Nah , just joking)

In the 80's , i was then living in Deptford (the road running around Deptford park) , best road in Deptford.

But of course i know Parkers Row , as i lived just around the corner.

I also knew someone in Cherry Garden Street , John Reed , but that was well before the 80's.

Ron (Purpleronnnie)     Fingers crossed for Millwall to beat Leeds tomorrow (at Leeds) Come on you Lions
