Snell Family from Bermondsey

Hi Steve ,

Well now fancy you remembering me !  i'm afraid the family you mentioned , their name doesn't  ring any bells ,  maybe while i'm sitting there one day the penny will drop !!

So how goes it with you , do you still live in Bermondsey ?

I live betwee Northern Ireland and Cyprus , so i only go back now and then , to visit my Mum ,who lives by Rotherhithe Tunnel , it has changed so much it's hardly recognisable , but i occasionally see some old faces .

Does Cheryl still live in the area ?  the last time i saw her was when she lived in the old railway buildings down the Old Kent Road , i think she had just had her son Peter ? i believe she later had a daughter Joanne ?  we lost contact then as you do , but it's interesting to find out how peoples lives pan out .

Did you found this site , or because i'm a rookie am i confusing your user name with the title ?

I moved from Bermondsey a long time ago, now live in Orpington, not to far away.

Yes this is my site, i started it a couple of years ago.

As for Cheryl, as i said i haven't see her much, after Freddie Gale (her Husaband) died, she
went her own way, she did re-marry but i don't think it lasted to long.

Peter, i think is doing OK! and Joanne became an Optician and is doing very well.
I spoke to my Sister Pat who remembers you and sends her regards.

I hope you are well, look forward to reading your Posts. hopefully this site will bring back some good memories.

I rember a Snell family that lived in Lucey Road back in the 50's and 50''s.

I knew both the Snell family and the Rose family from Lucey Road. I'm Christine the younger of two girls. My mum was Lille Hill and (step) father Bill Hill. We lived in the prefabs, our prefab was dead opposite Mr and Mrs Snells's house. We were the prefab next to the houses. The last prefab on our site was next to the 'bombed pub' with the bomb site where we used to have our firework 'parties'.

I remember Jimmy Rose, who all the young girls used to look up to. They lived the third house from us, two houses away from Liptons gate.

It's so good to find a site, where each entry is a memory and mostly good memories. There's so much I could write, and when I have more time will, but am pressed for time right now.

So goodbye friends from Bermondsey, isn't this a wonderful site. Thanks for it and we all must keep adding to it, so that the 'old' Bermondseystays alive.
