Hi Snellfamily

I did know of the Snell Family but they lived in Lucey Road, could this be one of the other addressess?
Somewhere on the site they have been mentioned.
I had an Aunt and Uncle that lived opposite them in Lucey Road, also my Wife lived there and knew of the Family.

Cheers

I used to live in Drappers Road (around the corner to Lucey Road) and there were Snells' in one of the neighbouring houses. I recall Pat Snell who would have probably been born c1953

My mum and dad owned the shop in Linsey Street known as Chicks but later called Eilleen's after my mum.  They also owned the Lord Palmerston pub on the corner of Linsey Street and Lucey Road.  I remember the Snells comming into both the shop and pub.

Hi Bermondseyboy

My aunt and uncle also lived opposite the Snell family in Lucey Road.  They were Rose and Jim Rose, with two kids, Ivy and Jimmy.  Did you know them?  I think someone called Pat lived next door to them.

Hi Freebird190

I never did live down Lucey Road, but my Aunt and Uncle did, i think they also lived on the opposite side from the Snell Family.
There names were George and Mary Koster, son Kenny and Daughter Cheryl.
They had excellent partys there which always brings back lots of great memories for me.
Also my Wife lived there but was very young and cannot remember to much about the people.
There names were May and Lawrence Dickinson, Daughters Pauline, Linda, and Christine.
While i was visiting my Aunt and Uncle there was a Rose that was a friend of Cheryl Koster, but i think her name was Christine, she would be in her mid 60's now.

I knew the Snell family. They moved from Lucey Road to Abbeyfield Road, along by Rotherhithe New Road. Then they moved to Wilson Grove, well some of them anyway. Harry Snell was a great joker, used to fool people with his silly stories that he made seem so real at the time. He used to sit in the Gardeners pub in Rotherhithe New Road and point to a door that never opened, and tell a stranger that 'he would be in any minute, its nearly eight o clock ,comes in everynight, Orry hates him'. Orry was the owner of the pub. Then  Harry used to describe how this fella would walk in, up the wall and across the ceiling, down the other wall, walk up to bar and order a half. That was why Orry hated him, he sat there all night with a half! I watched someone follow all Harrys indications with his finger as he described this fella, and they looked like they swallowed it right up to the end
Of course, he bought Harry a pint.

This is so strange, one of my work friends told me of the site this morning and it's funny seeing people asking about your family, happy to inform anyone of my families wear abouts as best as I can

The order was wrong previously so here goes

Harry, Esther, Lenny,  Brenda - Linda, Victor, Jennifer, Kenneth, Kay, Geoffrey, John, Sharon, Stephen, Rita, Don

We lived at 89 Lucy Road then moved to 141 Abbeyfield Road then the family home moved to Wilson Grove ( I never lived here ) then when my Father died Mum moved back to Rotherhithe New Road opposite Abbeyfield Road think it was due to happier times had in that area

Yes i know the Snells , they lived two doors down in Lucey Road , i lived at 93 , Brenda , Linda , and i were friends , we all went to Alma school , and played happily in the street together , picnic's at the park , both Southwark and Paterson , were our favourites . They were a large family , Aunt Ette as i had to call her and the Dad Harry , i remember when they got their 1st TV , I think i overstayed my welcome that night , Harry said to Aunt Ette ain't it time that kid went home hah ha , i don't think i remember him so well , but Aunt Ette was a lovely lady , who was very kind to my old Nan Mrs Mennell. Too many happy memories to go into now , but if there's anyone out there who remebers me please reply , i'd love to hear some stories.... Chrissie Rose as was.
