I'm trying to find out about my grandad, Ernest Edward Oliver, born circa 1884, who married my nan Kate McDonald at St Mary Magdalene in April 1901. He was known as Albert but other than the 1911 census and his children's baptism/birth certificates I cannot find any record for him other than a death certifcate. Nan had the salad stall in Tower Bridge Road.
Tailor made, not Taylor made. Unless, of course, that Taylor made them and not a Tailor.
well i see you have this thread ,well and truly sewn up .lol

Hi
Looking for details of the Richards family. Lived in Bermondsey in the 1950s, I believe there was a daughter and a son and that they grew up with grandparents in the 60s due to the death of parents.... know its a long shot but does this make sense to anyone?
Hi, im trying to find my dad Tim Howes who is roughly 50-55 now and once lived opposite snowsfield primary school and then at 86 southwark park road in the early to mid 80's. I know very little about him, although as far as i am aware, he has 2 older brothers, one possibly named john / james?? As i say, i dont know very much about him but a willing to answer any questions.
Thank you for your help,
Casey.
I am trying to find any information on either the Hosken or Dennis family of Bermondsey. Most of the Dennis' were killed October 1940 in the Druid Street raid. The Dennis' were railway workers and I would love to find out who they worked for. I have never seen a picture of any of them (my Grandfather backwards) and knowing a bit more about their lives might lead me one of the pictures on this amazing site. My grandmother was born Cherry Garden Street and father Enid Street. When they were killed their address was listed as the Neckinger Estate.
Any information would be fantastic. Thanks

Hi shaddon.
Thank you for the loevly message, im glad my parents were remembered in a graceful way.
They loved their jobs and being amongst so many people, seeing new faces and meeting new personalities.
Ive been trying to get old pictures of the stalls around the 1960's but unable to find some.
By any chance have you got any either of southwark park road or the square? Or know of anyone that might have some.
Kind regards Sue
Hi, marion gurney (jenkins)
Ive fount your email very interesting, and brought happiness to know that my parents are remebered for who they were and the work they did.
Sorry for the loss of your mum, hope things are going ok for you.. Im looking to move out of bermondsey too, as im finding it hard to put behind memories, bad times and pain through the changes and sadness experienced.
I love my parents dearly and agree that they were great people, willing to help everyone.
Flo who had her buisness running while my parents started theres, was a great friend of ours, sadly passed away. she worked on the flower stall with her son. The blue has changed, most of the stalls are gone now and not alot of the people are still around.
Hope to hear from you again, Kind Regards
