The Palace. That brings back great memories of the Sat Morning Mickey Mouse Club.I saw it the night after it was destroyed by a Direct hit,the roof was in Ambrose Street.Sad really as i never knew what happened to Buck Jones, they had Hopalong Cassidy at the rialto..The Marble Steps stayed there until well after the war.The site was used s an Emergency Water Supply during hostilities.I think that Manzes Pie and Mash went the same night,as it was only two doors away....Bill Killick

I watched the 'Troc' being demolished.....sad day. I have fond memories of the old place, saw Jim Dale sing there back in 1960
Hello
I can remember the Trocette and it always looked as though the Horseshoe Pub was embedded in the front wher the front entrance should be. The cinema entrances were either side of the pub>

It's such an awful shame, as it's said, what the German bombers didn't destroy the planers did. Although economics have a lot to do with the destruction of those wonderful cinemas, many of them great classic Art Deco building's (still no excuse) it doesn't account for tearing down rows of terraced houses which could have been modernised, and in the process breaking up comunities. The lovely old Grange Road Baths my school and many more buildings, and look at the boring stuff they have put in their place.
Rant over, sorry about that but it really upsets me.Thanks Bermondseyboy for posting all those lovely pictures.
Rod.
