Bermondseyboy, would you by any chance have a high res version of the picture of the new concorde pub?
a friend of mine is moving in, and would like to print it our as a gift for him. as i've seen it the picture (don't know if it's you or someone else's) it has been marked as A0002. Since it has the bermondseyboy.net watermark i assumed it was you.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, Danny & Sherry Baker were friends of mine, but I have not seen them for a couple of years.  I believe they live in Spain with their kids.

Kind regards, Louis.

Hi grumpywhite (I love your monicker). Was your Uncle Bob White married to Ria (Maria) White nee Miller who lived in the flats in Aberdour Street (I don't think it was Leroy Street)? They had a son Bob and I think they lived here. Ria was my Dad's cousin and I called him Uncle Bob. Just for confirmation, could you please describe the positions of your family members in the photo as, say, "3rd row and forth from left". I've been having a discussion about the meaning of 'left' and 'right' .. I know, it's silly, but it's the sort of thing we chunter about in our old age!

Hi All

I have attached a photograph of Banyard Road, looking towards Southwark Park.  The Southwark Park Tavern can be seen on the corner of the street.  The wheelbarrow at the end of the street belonged to a local builder named Lawrence (I could be wrong). The photograph has seen better days but I thought it worth putting on this site.  It was taken in 1952.

Regards
Rene

Hello there - new member here. Just found your fantastic 'photos of bermondsey pubs' site whilst researching my family tree. Although I'm from Manchester (now live in Crawley, as you can see) I found that some of my roots are in Bermondsey! My Great-Great-Grandfather, Charles Russell, was a cheesemonger with premises at No 11 Hickmans Folly, which now no longer exists.

I have long wanted a photo of his shop but was resigned to never finding one. However, I see from the London Street Directory of 1856 that his shop was next to the Waterman's Arms pub (at No. 10). What if the photo of the pub included my G-G-Grandfather's shop!

I have tried to find a pic of the Waterman's Arms but to no avail. However, I note that one of your members posted a pic of what they thought was the Waterman's but this apparently was the Swan & Sugarloaf. But the S & S is at 53 Hickmans Folly. So now I'm dead confused...

Can any of your nice members help me with a pic of the actual Waterman's Arms please?

Re the Holly Tree pub.  I too was a member of the dart's team,  The publican had a son (cant remember his name but he worked for an advertising agency in London.  We went 'out' together my first official boyfriend but I was still at Monnow Road school.  I often wonder what happened to him.

It was good to see a photo of it.  I used to walk past it every day to get to my flat in Southwark Park Estate.

the Jamaica Tavern at 495... Southwark Park Road.
This corner site was between Tranton Road & Jamaica Road and lead down to (Little) Cherry Garden Street and is now covered by one of the four "Squares". Position wise this would now be opposite Kirby a little north of the car park for Moreton and the entrance to the park.

According to "Bermondsey Parish/Bermondsey Perambulations (1868)", the Jamaica Tavern was built on the site of the 'Jamaica House and Tea Gardens'

The Horns used to be called "The Mums" because in the early 50's or there abouts it was run by two older women
